in the summber, peas usually come from the Netherlands. Out of season, they are flown in from Guatemale and Kenya.
European peas usaully grow outside, in full soil. Because of the low yield per hectare, they need relatively much space compared to other types of vegetables( both inside and outsode ofthe greenhouse).
Fresh peas from the Netherlands or the surrounding countries are only available during the summer.
Outside of the summer, peas would be less environment friendly.
